The nest is a swelling fruit, pressing against its limits. From the depths of what daydreams do such images arise?

ABOUT ZORA VERONA:

Zora Verona* is a Yarra Valley based maker and forager, creating ephemeral sculptures from flora, fauna and found objects. Showcasing the beauty of natural fibres, Zora Verona’s sculptures honour the art and architecture of bird nests.

As nest collecting reached fever pitch in the late 1800’s, it was outlawed in most countries, to protect nests, eggs and the birds themselves from being driven to extinction. Zora Verona’s works are in response to that desire to possess and collect objects of natural beauty. As an ode to the birds, and the humans too who wish to collect without guilt, Zora Verona’s series of handmade nests are recreations for all to own and enjoy.

Works for sale or by commission. Nests 10cm to 1metre diameter. Commissions can be a collaboration, celebrating the client’s personal connection with nature, honouring their own treasure trove of found objects, or showcasing their favourite tree, vine and plants.

*In honour of her grandmothers, Zora and Verona, Lori Kravos has chosen to create and exhibit under the name Zora Verona.

ZORA VERONA participated in Yarra Valley Open Studios in 2022 & 2023.
