Another World: Shaun Tan & David Miller

Shaun Tan and David Miller are two of Australia’s much loved children’s book author/illustrators. Their different approaches to storytelling are displayed side by side in Another World. 

Exhibiting original works from Shaun’s book The Rules Of Summer, Yarra Valley artists David Miller will be showing his incredible paper sculptures.

Shaun Tan grew was the 'good drawer’ at school compensating, only just, for being the ‘short kid’ in school. He graduated from the University in 1995 with joint honours in Fine Arts and English Literature and currently works as an artist and author in Melbourne. He has become best known for illustrated books that deal with social and historical subjects through dream-like imagery.

David Miller studied art at Swinburne in Melbourne. His first employer, one of Australia's leading designers at the time, introduced him to paper sculpture. Later he worked as an art director in advertising agencies before starting his own design and illustration studio. David has been cutting and folding bits of paper since he was a three-year-old, and watching him in action is inspirational.
