ABOUT IVOR:

Ivor Wolstencroft is in love with colour and form.

As a naïve artist, Ivor started painting in 1995 after he took some community art classes as “therapy” - away from his working life as a veterinary surgeon.

Ivor usually paints abstract or semi-abstract forms based on photographs. His inspirations include the Fauve movement, Emily Kngwarreye, Van Gogh and Mark Rothko.

Probably his most significant exhibition was a solo exhibition in a contemporary art gallery in the UK in 2006 - a series of 12 large (1200X1200) canvasses based on coal hole cover designs found on the footpaths of London.

In 2010 Ivor lived in the remote mining community of Newman, WA for a year - an Art diary of 730 images (2 a day for a year) followed, along with some reflections on landscape.

Moving to Warburton in 2014 one of his first Art Projects was collecting and photographing leaves. https://instagram.com/warburtonleaves

Ivor has also tried to raise public awareness of the demise of the Cerini Centre in Warburton through public art.

Most recently in 2018 Ivor paddled down the Yarra in a kayak from Warburton to Williamstown. It took 13 days. This inspired a series of 13 paintings.
