ABOUT JOAN:
Painting has been my retirement hobby since 2016. During my career as a psychologist I developed a strong interest in non-verbal approaches to enhancing a sense of well-being.
This led me to the development of the practice of Mindfulness during extended walking in the Australian outback. The influence of walking along the Larapinta trail, Bay of Fires, Uluṟu, Blackhall and of course our local Warburton Trail have all found their way into my paintings.
I enjoy exploring colour and shape particularly through the Australian landscape as it invites both rhythm and juxtaposition reflecting life’s experiences.
I paint with acrylics using a palette that highlights and exaggerates the often subtle colours in our landscape. I enjoy using both brush and palette knife.
I have developed skills via workshops and a tutored art group. I consider myself as an emerging artist.
Medium: acrylic painting
