ABOUT JULIE:
Julie has been painting for quite a while, following training in fashion design at RMIT.
She began painting seriously in 1999 with David Moore at Montsalvat, learning tonal painting.
Recently, under the guidance of Ron Reynolds, she began using more colour, experimenting with her response to the subject before her, being either from nature or her floral studies.
Julie often paints “en plein air”, finishing the painting in her converted spare room within her home. She loads her canvas, easel and paints onto her golf cart and takes off down the path to the Yarra and beyond, to find her subject. The beautiful Yarra Valley provides a wealth of potential paintings.
Julie has exhibited widely and has painted in many locations from the Flinders Ranges to the Mornington Peninsula.
At the end of 2019 she had the opportunity to exhibit her work in Tuscany, after attending a Master Class with Peter Wegner.
Influences are Matisse, Cezanne, The Fauves, Fred Williams, Margaret Olley and Bernard Cathelin.
