ABOUT PERIE (PEAR):
My artistic journey has two parts: pre and post the car accident in 2017 that broke my shoulder and stopped me (temporarily) from using my right arm and hand.
Prior to that, I had completed murals in my local community, many private commissions and exhibited in group shows.
Following several surgeries I had to learn how to use my arm and hand again and finally in 2019 I was able and confident enough to paint again.
During the lockdowns, I kept myself busy by illustrating a book that was published in 2022 and painting just for myself.
Post-accident, I paint to please my soul and capture moments that make me grateful to be a part of the world. When the viewer looks upon my art, it is my hope that in this world of broken dreams, they will experience a moment of appreciation that it is still a beautiful world where they can strive to be happy. That my work will leave them a little better than before they viewed it. I paint my perfect moments to capture that instant and share it.
I am also inspired by the environment and our food system and hope to inspire people to be more appreciative of it.
I work with my hands, paint brushes, finger tips and found objects, like stones, seeds and leaves from my own garden.
I am currently creating delicate, functional, hand-made ceramics in preparation for an exhibition in Healesville in November.
Medium: Acrylic, Water Colours, Gouache, Canvas, Paper, Inks, Pigment Powders, Stoneware and Glazes.
