ABOUT YING:

Ying works predominantly in watercolour, but also includes acrylics and oils. She also has experience with ceramics and sculpture.

Her work is inspired by what she sees around her, with the Australian landscape being a major influence in her recent works. Her art is an interpretation of the things she discovers in her travels and also draws on the cultures of China and Australia.

She graduated from the Hubei Academy of Fine Art and worked as an Art teacher and professional artist in China. Ying now works as a professional artist in Australia.

Whilst sculpture and ceramics are now not the most important part of her work, they have been important. She completed a major commission for a hotel based on Chinese fables and used a study course with well respected American and Chinese ceramicists in Jingdezhen to create and decorate different types of pottery.

Ying has won prizes in China, Taiwan, Canada and Australia and her work is held in many public and private collections.

Ying has been a regular participant of Yarra Valley Open Studios.
