painting is my language

ABOUT ALETA:

I paint to communicate, this is my language. I use thick coats of paint and then grind them back to reveal the beginnings of a story, which encourages the viewer to read as their own. Influenced by Japanese and Chinese calligraphy, I embellish this ground with suggestive details. Some of which are personal and some universal. I favor restricted palettes as, this to me, creates a quiet and uncluttered ambience. I enjoy the smooth and "weathered" texture that is soft on the eye and to the touch.

I hope the viewer recognizes parts of their own story, in my work. It is my intention to impart beauty, joy and humour. If my art resonates with people, I consider that my job as an artist, is done.
