ABOUT DAVID:
David’s work is generally landscape based. He works mainly from memory, something he has absorbed by being in the landscape rather than working directly from it, and the challenge of visually representing the experience of the landscape has long been a preoccupation for him.
How to portray the visual experience in a manner that is not completely realistic but somehow conveys the feeling of what one sees or experiences.
Not to paint the whole picture so to speak, not to tell the whole story, but to allow the viewer to enter into the painting.
His main influences are Toss Woollaston, Fred Williams, and Willem de Kooning.
