ABOUT LUCIENNE (LUC):
Lucienne’s active participation in life is what drives and propels her art practice.
Her children’s primary school was old, drab and devoid of colour, so she ran lunchtime art programs for children to create visual fun in their playgrounds. She also painted and depicted flora and fauna living in the grounds upon the school walls.
Lucienne’s love of nature and the natural environment is the basis of most of her creations from children’s books, paintings, collages, printmaking and sculptures. There’s a few street libraries, laneways and murals too, adorned with her depictions of birds, animals and their surrounds.
The issue of waste is of huge importance to her and her sculptures generally grow from unwanted and discarded items, saving them from landfill. She’s always excited to transform ‘rubbish’ into artworks.
