passion for sculpting fantasy creatures
ABOUT NERISSA:
My professional life involves the creation of large scale animatronic creatures for theatre, touring shows and theme parks across the globe. As a child l was drawn to any film or television show that had creatures in it.
This has influenced my private works in concept design, illustration and sculpture.
My home studio is where l explore, create and master my own vision. Sculpture is my passion.
Whether it be characters that emerge through a sketch or the reproduction of things that already exist in life.
Building, twisting armature wire to form the foundation for either creature, animal or human figure.
I use a special mix of plasticine and paraffin wax to achieve the exact firmness to define texture, weight and movement.
Lining up tools l have spent a fortune on buying, only to wear out the ones l have built myself.
