painting is not just an artwork but a journey
ABOUT NIKKI:
I discovered painting by accident seven years ago. I am self-taught and have become a full-time artist and teacher. I run The Senoritas’ Art Workshop from my Garden Studio in Monbulk.
I love painting because it is always a challenge that involves experimenting, trust and an element of bravery.
I love working with texture and vivid colour to create abstract realism. I enjoy painting florals and regard portraits as my biggest challenge.
My “Viva La Frida Series" consists of eight portraits of women where I aim to celebrate strong and resilient women, reflecting their inner beauty and complexity.
Experimenting with materials like rose gold and silver leaf and using impasto, inks, acrylic and oil paint, to create textured vibrant imagery that bring the paintings to life.
Each painting is not just an artwork but a journey, the process of painting, is like falling in love and I invite the viewer to experience this vibe of joy and wonder that vibrates from the canvas.
