ABOUT GABRIELLE:

Gabrielle Higgins, founder of Mud brick poet, is a bookbinder and poet.

Her poetry publications include Cordite, Contemporary Australian Feminist Poetry, Paper Wasp and Plumwood Mountain. Her poem was highly commended in the Philip Bacon Ekphrastic Poetry Prize 2016.

Gabrielle's poetic work focuses on connection. An experienced community educator, she is interested in how we all see the same view differently and exploring this through blackout/erasure poetry and ekphrastic poetry (creating poetry in response to artworks).

Passionate about encouraging people to engage with traditional crafts and trades, she demonstrates bookbinding techniques at festivals and markets. She is also a pattern designer, with an interest in vintage typography inspired work.
